What we collect
We collect only what's needed: the name and preferences you enter (your name, structure, name feel, your chosen leanings, intended use, and the optional note about yourself), the generated result, and — only if you purchase — your payment record. We use a device identifier to enforce the free usage limit, on the basis of our legitimate interest in preventing abuse. We never ask for your face, ID, birthday, or any sensitive data, and we do not collect your email or phone number anywhere on this site — if you choose to buy, those are entered on the secure checkout page run by Creem (see Payments below).
Payments & contact details
If you make a purchase, checkout is handled by Creem, our merchant of record. Creem collects your email and phone number on its own checkout page to process the payment, send your receipt, and provide support; that information is governed by Creem's privacy policy. We receive your purchase email back from Creem to link your order to your generated name, to send you a link to access the name you purchased (so you can return to it on any device), and to help you if you contact us. We send only emails directly related to your order — we do not send marketing or promotional emails — and we never share, sell, or rent your contact details. You can ask us to delete your purchase record at any time.
How we use your data
Your name and the optional note you write are sent to an AI language model to generate suggestions. Please don't include sensitive personal information in that note. We do not use your input for model training, and we never sell your data. Our service providers are OpenRouter, Supabase, Vercel, Creem, and Resend (which we use to deliver order-related emails).
Cookies & analytics
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Plausible) to understand how people use InkName. This tells us things like which page you visited, that you submitted the form, and which candidate name you selected. None of this is tied to your identity — it's anonymous, aggregate usage data that helps us improve the naming experience over time.
We do not use advertising trackers, third-party cookies, or device fingerprinting for marketing purposes. You can block our analytics entirely with any privacy-focused browser extension or content blocker — Plausible is included in the common blocklists.
Data retention
We keep generation records only as long as needed to run the service and meet any legal or accounting obligations, and no longer than necessary. You can ask us to delete any record at any time (see your rights below).
Your rights
You may request access to or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. A free generation record contains what you entered (your name, preferences, and optional note) and a device identifier we use to limit free usage. To have any generation deleted, just send us its result link (the share URL) and we'll remove that record. If you purchased, we can also act on requests tied to your purchase email.
